In the heat of Port Elizabeth, Fusion ambassador Rachel Joyce enjoyed a strong performance in finishing on the Podium at Ironman South Africa 2009.

In what was to set the tone for her performance throughout the day Rachel was the 2nd woman out of the water with a time of 52:18 just behind eventual winner Lucie Zelenkova. Rachel maintained her 2nd position throughout the bike leg with a split of 5:04:53 before putting in a strong run in the sweltering conditions to finish 3rd in an overall time of 9:37:00.

Aside from finishing third Rachel had an eventful post race experience! Whilst receiving medical treatment the terrible rain conditions forced the tent to collapse and the supporting beam fall onto the bed Rachel was being treated on!!! Fortunately Rachel escaped any major injury and is now back in Training in preparation for Ironman Lanzarote.
